Clinic Nov 27

TOday I got to go throught the treatment prosses. I need to go ALOT faster. I didn't even finish scaling. I spent way to long probing. Skye had a good suggestion. If the gingiva is healthy I don't need to be so exact. I only need to be with in a millimeter of the instructors depth. I should have finished because skye is really healthy so that is kind of discouraging.

Today I got to see how it is going to go on Monday, Skye was very fast. She got all the way done with time to spare. I hope I can get done. I tand to be slow.

Clinic Nov 20

Today we learned emergency procedures. This is good information to know but you hope you never have to use it. It was fun to act out the emergency and it relieved some of the anxiety.

Sealants seem kind of tricky to me. There are a million things you have to hold on to all at once. I think it is not as hard as I thought it would be to make sure you get all the surfaces. THe thing that was hard was making sure you didn't put too much on.

Clinic Nov 13

Today we learned how to use the air pouder polisher. I'm glad we did the pennies fisrt, because once we got in the mouth it was hard to tell what we were doing on non stained teeth. All the talk leading up to this gave me some idea of how horrible this was going to be, but I was plesantly surprised being the patient. It was not nearly as bad as I had invisioned. or mabey it's cause skye is amazing.

Clinic Nov 8

Today we learned how to sharpen our instruments. I am scared I am going to end up ruining my instruments. I like the idea of having something to keep your tip at the right angle. I think it is something that will come with pracitice.

Clinic Nov 1

Today we learned prophy. I think it is interesting that they tell you to do it selectively. Every time I have gone in for a cleaning I have always gotten my teeth polished at the end. I think most patients think that is what a cleaning is. I know that is what I thought. I think this will be a learning curve for the patients as well.

Clinic October 30

Today russ let me poke at his gums. Scaling the posterior teeth feelt really wierd. I think it actually felt better last time I did it. I think maybe since i worked on dexter for a while before and got a feel for it. I definately need more practice.
